[Fashionably dying of sadness is more Tokoyami's realm, but she can pull it off when she wants too -
Venus's denseness gets her to perk up a little though.

No smiles or anything close to them yet, but the little huff she lets out is fond, and she matches it up with reaching out to take Venus's forearm where it's wrapped around all her stuff. ... With a jack, of course.
Both of them have occupied hands, after all, since she's trying to keep her blanket on.]

I'm joking.
Get in here already, if you're gonna; you're letting all the heat out just standing in the doorway like that.

Oh. Right. Sorry.

[ but she doesn't look upset so much as embarrassed, and after a few of her eyes flick down to look at the gentle tug she willingly follows indoors. and for the next few hours, that's sort of the energy of the whole situation. they talk about momo, and they avoid talking about momo, and even if jiro's definitely a lot stonier than usual it's still jiro in the room with venus. it's workable. venus can manage this, she thinks.

and then the night rolls over, and the sanguis moon rises, and just like that everything changes.

it's seven in the morning. fairly bright outside jiro's room. fairly bright on the inside, too, since someone is giving off enough light to power a generator on her own. when jiro wakes up - which will have to be on her own time, since venus isn't saying a word - she'll probably notice the light first and foremost. then the fact that venus is no longer in the bed next to her, her own blankets discarded at the foot of the bed.

also there is a very large... dragon... snake? snake dragon? something in the room with her. something that is unmistakably, unquestionably, venus.

until then, venus just... sort of watches jiro in silence. occasionally, a forked tongue - it must be at least a foot long - bleps out. that's... that's definitely venus, alright. ]

[Luckily for Venus, Jiro's not really a heavy sleeper. Both in that she's easy to wake, and that she doesn't sleep very much.
So she doesn't have to wait very long, though she does get treated to the entirely goofy sight of her feeling out for the person who's SUPPOSED to be laying next to her, eyes still closed as if she'd rather continue trying to sleep.

When she doesn't find her there, though, she finally, finally decides to crack her eyes open a bit, sitting up to look at the bed with confusion.
And then that look gets turned toward the dragon sitting patiently next to the bed and wow she is huge.]

[It might obviously be her but she is GIGANTIC, okay. Jiro's a teeny tiny five feet even without her dragon changes - all she's got are these koi fins and fish scales, those don't make her any bigger!!]

Oh! Good morning.

[ she opens her mouth when she speaks, but her lips - snout? - make no movements to form syllables. and the sound! it's hard to describe the experience of venus's voice. it is soft, and yet immense; it spreads to fill the space it is in, like ripples across a lake, or frissons off newly-touched skin. it's the feeling of fingers running softly through your hair, bringing you in for a warm and gentle hug.

she doesn't smile. which is probably good, because she's not sure snake-dragons can. she just keeps talking in that mellow, mellifluous voice. ]

Sorry. I didn't want to wake you up early. [ and then, without really waiting for an answer- ] I love your changes? They're so pretty. You really lucked out with the moons, huh?

[- Yeah, the way Venus's voice carries right now definitely gets Jiro to jump, though it's more obvious in the way her jacks seem to pull up in some sort of flinch.
And predictably, she's already getting bashful, too; she ends up reaching up to grab her jacks like the drawstrings of a hoodie just to try and chill herself out.

Dangit, it is WAY too early for this --]

Well, I - y-you know, I'm just a fish again... [She pauses, looking down at herself.] ... it looks like I don't even have any snake to add a little color, either.

[Well, no, she DOES have her usual mamba trait coloring the inside of her mouth a dark, blueish-grey - but that's it. It's all white koi scales otherwise!]

- But man, look at you. Are you some kinda dragon this time around?

Ah. Sorry. Is this better?

[ even though she tilts her head at jiro's flinch, she doesn't... sound particularly stressed at the moment. honestly, she just sounds like she's trying to make things easier for everyone. still, when jiro tries to grumble about her own look, venus helpfully chips in: ]

Just a fish is nice too though? Neptune was the ocean, but I don't think any of us thought of her as "just water."

[ there's a small smile in her voice as she speaks, and it gets even prouder once jiro asks what she is. she starts to wiggle, a tiny bit, and glides along the ground until she's close enough to lift her head and place it - very softly - on the empty spot on jiro's bed. ]

I don't really know! [ ...it's not really the standard proud declaration, is it. ] But I like it a lot. I think I'm maybe... a snake dragon? Something like that? Is that even a thing?

[Venus, it's the quality of your voice, not your volume...

But Jiro's not gonna hassle her for it, honestly. It DOES sound nice to listen to, after all.
What she does do, however, is kinda slowly reach out...

So she can gently pat the spot between Venus's eyes. Good dragon.]

I mean, dragons can be all kinds of lengths and sizes and stuff in myths, so why not here, right?
I'm almost kinda jealous you're a whole dragon, though.

[ it's not like she'd have any more of an idea what to do with that, jiro!! besides, as is, it's probably a better volume anyway. especially given the weird rumble that rises up as soon as jiro's hand makes contact with venus's glabella. is she upset? growling?

no, and if it wasn't clear from the way she gently presses up into the touch, she is in fact purring. ]

Aw. Haha. You're cute too, though? Besides, maybe you'll be a whole dragon next time. It's not like...

[ ...she just. sort of trails off there. and then yawns, in a motion that reveals that 1) her mouth is quite large like this, and 2) she doesn't really have fangs or teeth. just cute lizard gummies.

she closes her mouth. her tongue just... is sort of caught hanging about half a foot out.

god, nothing will stop her from being a dork, will it. ]

[Well, if she's gonna start purring, then Jiro's just gonna have to start rubbing her feathers, huh??
That yawn, though... Jiro ends up smiling a little bit, though it's with a shake of her head.]

I doubt it. But I guess it could happen.
Until then, I'll just enjoy your huge dragon butt instead.

[She's gonna just. Reach over and moosh Venus's face with both her hands.
It's clear she's feeling a little better compared to the state she was in yesterday.]

- Man, are you even gonna fit through my doorway? How'm I gonna get breakfast if you're stuck in my room...?

...it's not that big...

[ but she hardly has time to be embarrassed, what with the QUALITY FACE PAPPING jiro is giving her. she relaxes even more, somehow? then she inches her face forward until she bumps into jiro's knees. from there, it's a simple enough move to just... you know, nuzzle in affectionately against jiro's leg.

keep! those! pets! up! ]

Mmrgh. [ is she having actual trouble focusing with this?? ] I... should fit? Maybe? I'm thin enough to squeeze through. It's just moving that might be tough.

[She absolutely can and will!! Now that Venus is closer, she's even gonna get some good scratches in around her feathers!!
This is way too cute, Jiro absolutely LOVES this.]

What, can't walk without wiggling? Or are you worried about your wings?
That hall's seen worse than a pair of wings flapping through it.

I don't have feet, Jiro? I mean. I think I'm just gonna have to wiggle...

[ not that she's making any effort to budge towards the door, mind you. she is perfectly fine where she is. ]

...also what are dragons supposed to eat.

[ well. not perfectly fine. ]

[More scritches, though these ones are thoughtful...]

I mean, I could eat anything as a dragon, but you're also pretty snakey, right?
I've got some mice in the freezer if you want'em.

Don't snakes eat... you know, other things too? Like eggs, or something?

Probably? But all the snakes I know eat mice.
